Lose the Baby Weight Without Leaving the Baby

Who needs a high priced gym membership that may or may not have child care. You can get the same benefits by working out at home with your new baby. Well, maybe your baby is a kid now, but either way, you can do it at home.

First thing and the most important, is your diet. I recommend writing everything down in a notebook. You must keep track of all calories consumed through eating and drinking. Also, record your physical activity.

Now for exercise…To get exercise you just need to be active, get off the couch and start moving. When I had my son, I bought a jogging stroller and took him for long walks everyday. I built up to jogging a few minutes at a time, then eventually I was jogging for a full 30 minutes and he loved the site seeing!

If it’s freezing or you just want to exercise indoors then start with playing with your baby.

  1. Full Baby Squat

Sit him on the ground, squat down and pick him up and lift him over your head. This is a great way to incorporate a full body squat with your baby as the resistance. Work up to doing this 10-20 times in a row. Make sure your bending your knees and lifting with your legs. This works your whole legs, butt and your arms.

  • Sit Up with Baby

Lay on your back with your knees bent and place your baby on your stomach letting his head rest on your legs. Keep holding on to your baby and crunch up using your stomach muscles and try to kiss your baby. It’s fun to try and maybe you’ll get some kisses in too! Work up to as many as you can do. Remember to record your number in your notebook.

  • Push Up with Baby

Lay your baby on his back on a mat on the floor. Place your hands on the floor on each side of your baby and get in a push up position (from knees or feet). Lower slowly towards your baby and give him/her a kiss. Lift yourself back up as you talk to your baby and make him laugh. If you are very weak I suggest putting your baby away from your chest incase you are not strong enough to lift back up.

  • Baby Swing

Cradle your baby in your arms and sway back and forth like a rocker. As you swing your body lift one heel at a time up and point your toe. Repeat to the other side. Add a squat as you swing through the middle.

These are some fun ways to bond with your baby as your getting exercise. Soon you will be inventing new and exciting ways to play with your baby and you won’t even realize your working out! Have fun with it and remember to be safe. Never put your baby in a position directly under you and always make sure you are supporting your baby fully with any exercise that you do.

Let me know what kind of fun exercises you come up with your baby!
